Ivy Cottage is set in the heart of the quiet Cornish village of Tregurrian. Whilst only a short walk to Watergate Bay and a short car journey away from the hustle and bustle of the major tourist resort of Newquay, Tregurrian itself is within five miles of attractions, scenery, sports facilities and historic sites to satisfy the needs of most holidaymakers.

For those of you who are happy to look beyond the five miles, a radius of twenty miles will take you to every attraction Cornwall has to offer.

Watergate Bay – Watergate Bay lies at the foot of Tregurrian and is a 10 minute walk from the cottage. Here you will find one of Cornwall’s most secluded and protected beaches, world famous for its water sport facilities www.extremeacademy.co.uk, www.goneferalsurf.com. If you want to walk for miles on clean, flat sand, build castles, race buggies, go kiting, wind surf, surf or just sit and relax this is the place for you.

For a stiffer walk you can join the Cornish Coastal path at the Bay or from the back of Ivy Cottage. The walk is invigorating and the views spectacular. There are frequent routes to the beach and wonderful cliff top picnic places.

Golf Enthusiasts can enjoy the pleasures of both Trevose and St. Enodoch golf courses within 20 minutes drive.

The world famous Eden Project and the Lost Gardens of Heligan are an absolute must for any keen gardener. Follow the sign posts from the A30. The Eden Project is only 20 minutes from Ivy Cottage.

The Japanese Water Garden is a must for all keen gardeners and those with an interest in Bonsai. The range of trees is vast and the prices suit every pocket. The garden itself is a beautiful, calm and reflective oasis in a busy world.

Porth – This little village boasts a small but beautiful sandy beach. Safe for families with children and delightful for everyone else. It has the nearest shop to Tregurrian, which stocks just about everything you would need for a seaside holiday.

Newquay – What can we say about Newquay? It has attractions for both wet and dry days: parks, pubs, clubs, world-renowned surfing beaches, golf courses, restaurants, the nearest supermarket to Tregurrian, and amusements for everybody. It is impossible to be bored on a trip to Newquay.

Cornwall’s Attractions:

The coast boasts a multitude of pretty villages and seaside towns. Amongst the best are Tintagel, Perrenporth, St. Agnes, St. Ives and Padstow. If you want art, sculpture, culture, quaint, legend, a Rick Stein fish dish or just fantastic ice cream these are the places to visit.

The National Trust holds several fine properties in Cornwall, including Llanhydrock. This house is a must see, with it’s complete Victorian kitchens, servants quarters, hall and gardens.

Castle-an-Dinas – The castle is a prehistoric hill fort, set above the hunting grounds of the legendary King Arthur. The earthworks are in excellent condition and it is possible to glimpse an understanding of the minds that created such feats of civil engineering five thousand years ago.
